Why City of Light Community Teams?

Structural violence is harm that people and communities experience from economic and social structures, institutions, privilege and inequity that inflict harm by preventing access to resources to meet basic needs.

Southeastern Wisconsin suffers from systemic hyper-segregation, which increases concentrated disadvantage, poverty and negatively impacts businesses in the public and private sectors.

What Do We Do?

We assist neighborhoods by improving:

  • Neighbor connectedness
  • Neighborhood safety
  • Access to job, health and family sustaining resources
  • Improve neighborhood beauty and block pride

How Do We Do This?

We partner with public, private, non-profits and Corporations to provide consistent Outreach for the following:

  • Community canvassing to determine need
  • Block parties/neighbor meetups
  • Facilitate the creation of block watch efforts
  • Host resource fairs and provide connections to needed jobs, health and other services
  • Host clean-ups and neighborhood beautification projects
